After being shaped into laces or belts, licorice or fruit licorice strands can be wound into licorice rolls, which are a popular type of candy all over the world. The strands can have a hollow centre or can be filled with another type of candy, as shown in the pictures. Among the many available variations are the "Catherine Wheels", which are especially popular in the United Kingdom.
